The cause of Rosacea is unknown, but most experts believe that it is a condition where blood vessels become damaged when repeatedly enlarged by stimuli. The damage causes the vessels to dilate and stay dilated for long time or permanently resulting in flushing and redness.

All people blush, either with embarrassment or after spicy food and alcohol. But for some people such facial flushing has turned into a life-long nuisance and suffering. Rosacea is chronic condition which is more common in fair-skinned people and runs in families. Emotional factors (stress, fear, anxiety, embarrassment, etc.), sun exposure, temperature extremes, strenuous exercise, severe sunburn, moving to a warm or hot environment from a cold one such as heated shops and offices during winter may trigger blushing and aggravate Rosecea.

A flare-up can be caused by changes in the weather like strong or cold winds or a change in the humidity. Rosacea typically causes inflammation of the skin of the face, particularly the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. Rosacea rarely reverses itself and when first develops usually progresses from reappearing redness to permanent enlarged blood vessels and small red solid bumps or pus-filled pimples.

The primary signs of Rosacea are: Flushing, Persistent facial redness, Bumps and pimples, & visible blood vessels Other symptoms are: eye irritation, burning or stinging, dry appearance, plaques. People who suffer from Rosacea usually struggle to find suitable (not irritating) skin care products. Unfortunately, for many sufferers, the biggest problem is not physical, but psychological, this condition has a dramatic impact on their self-confidence and self-esteem causing avoiding public contact and social engagements.

The exciting thing is, today there is a treatment for this condition. IPL Vessels Removal is accepted to be one of the most successful treatments for unwanted facial veins and Rosacea by Consultants Dermatologists throughout NHS. You can also adjust your diet and lifestyle to diminish flushing.

Your GP normally will prescribe antibiotics which might be 'useful' if you develop acne like spots. But it is more likely that you will not see any difference with taking tablets if your skin clean and only covered with broken vessels. Antibiotics will destroy 'good' bacteria on your stomach and intestine causing more indigestion problems there rather than helping your skin to clear.

IPL vessels removal has been excepted as the best long term solution which allows significantly reduce redness and generally improve quality of the skin. People who suffer from Rosacea find it difficult to find suitable skin care problems. Everything seems to irritate the skin. We offer another treatment, vitamin MESOTHERAPY, which improves skin density therefore, delays Rosacea outbreak. This treatment can only be done when Rosacea is in remission.

Prior to treatment, a consultation is conducted in which a medical history is taken to confirm suitability for treatment, there is also an opportunity for any questions a you may have to be answered. Before treatment commences you must provide a written consent and a small patch test will be carried out.

The chemicals associated with swimming, mainly chlorine, could increase your risk of a rosacea flare. Chlorine is an irritant and can cause redness, itching and stinging even in people who do not suffer from chronic skin conditions.

Unfortunately you don’t have to many choices but that’s what you can do:

● Ask your pool's manager when the facility is shocked with chlorine each day. Wait for the chemicals to settle for a few hours before swimming. If you feel the heat of flushing beginning while you are swimming, slow down to a more relaxed pace.
● Keep a spray bottle of fresh, cool water on hand to rinse your face frequently.
● You can use a waterproof sunscreen (50+ or 80+ ) and protect your face from the exposure to the chemical. We have samples in the clinic and give it to our clients following treatments.
● Get a good cooling gel/cream to use after swimming. We usually advise on Aloe Vera Gel or Neo Strata products.

You will not be hustled or pushed into buying anything at your first consultation. It is designed and designated to provide necessary knowledge and understanding of the treatment and the technology used to assist you in making your own decision. Children from 16 years of age can have these treatment at Laserina Clinic if it is recommended by their GP.
